RFONZ – Regional Film Offices of New Zealand
RFONZ is the peak body for the regional film offices (RFOs) of New Zealand. Each RFO is set up to help with locations, permits, local crew information, production facilitation and other industry support in their respective region.
Contact a New Zealand regional film office:
Film Otago Southland (encompassing Film Queenstown Lakes and Film Dunedin)
There is also an interim film office in Tairāwhiti (ttwells@tairawhititv.com).
As the peak body for RFOs, RFONZ ensures optimum coordination of the activities the offices are collectively engaged in. This association is critical to the development and growth of the New Zealand screen industry.
RFONZ core collective objectives are as follows:
Attraction
Attraction of screen business, talent and investment to New Zealand.
Sector Support and Development
Supporting businesses, guilds and associations to sustain and grow the sector through joint development projects and initiatives.
Open for Business
RFOs may provide film permitting and facilitation for specific projects. Underpinning this activity is ongoing policy, advocacy and regulatory development in conjunction with relevant stakeholders, local/central government, community and other organisations critical to the function and development of the sector. They aim to reduce and eliminate red tape and barriers to entry.
